Precambrian(25 slides) $50

The first few slides locate the oldest rocks in which fossils have been found. Blue-green algal deposits known as stromatolites(among the oldest records of life) are illustrated in several slides and photomicrographs show some of the single celled organisms found in them. Slices of banded iron formation are also shown. Several slides illustrate Ediacaran fauna from Australia, some of the best preserved Precambrian fossils. Slides of jellyfish casts and worm burrows suggesting the evolution of metazoans late in the Precambrian are also included. Charts and graphs relate the evolution of life to the accumulation of an oxygen-rich atmosphere and set the stage for the Cambrian explosion of animal phyla.
